German fashion company Zalando and French sporting gear retailer Decathlon are amongst the backers of a new shoe recycling programme launched in France\u2019s Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Reshoes\u2019 programme is to be led by CETIA, said to be the \u201cfirst innovation platform dedicated to the automated sorting and dismantling of end-of-life or unsold textile articles and footwear\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cShoes are the poor relation of recycling in Europe because the technical barriers are very complex to overcome. It is great news that such iconic players are working hand in hand to break down technological barriers and thus transform their industry,\u201d said Chlo\u00e9 Salmon Legagneur, CETIA\u2019s director.<\/p>\n
