Fast fashion giant H&M and Remondis, a partner of global logistics specialist Rhenus Group, have founded Looper Textile & Co., an independent company in which they each hold 50 percent that collects, sorts and sends post-consumer textiles for reuse and recycling.<\/p>\n

Looper Textile has been operational since 2023, but is ready to work on an industrial scale and process up to 150 million garments per year and send them for reuse and recycling.<\/p>\n

Garments are sorted into more than 200 categories, based on material and type of product. In 2023, Looper helped extend the useful life of more than 40 million garments. By 2024, the number has risen to more than 72 million garments, of which 65% are destined for reuse, 25% are sent for recycling, and less than 10% disposed of responsibly due to contamination.<\/p>\n
